AiM Race Studio 3 Cheat Sheet

A quick-reference for reviewing data in AiM Race Studio 3 Analysis. The layouts, channels, and reports that turn a session's .xrk file into a specific, actionable plan for the next one.

The Five Essential Layouts

RS3A is organised into layouts: Time-Distance (where 90% of coaching happens), Data-Movies for synced video, Split Times for consistency, Channels for statistics, and Scatter for the G-G diagram.

Key Channels

Mid-corner minimum speed is where time is made. Throttle application timing separates confidence from uncertainty, brake pressure traces reveal over-braking, and steering smoothness shows whether the driver is searching or settled.

Split Times & Consistency

The gap between the Best Theoretical lap (fastest sectors stitched together) and the Best Actual lap is the consistency gap — the single most powerful coaching number. A large gap means the speed is there; the driver just needs to put it together.

The G-G Diagram

Lateral G on the X axis and longitudinal G on the Y axis draws the traction circle. A full circle is the goal; a diamond means braking and turning are happening in sequence rather than blended.

Reading Data Patterns

Early braking shows as flat speed with no inputs. Throttle hesitation shows as an on-off partial trace. A late apex with early throttle shows a lower minimum speed but a much higher exit — almost always faster onto a straight.

Three Questions After Every Session

Where am I braking earlier or harder than necessary? Where can I get on throttle sooner? Where am I inconsistent? Standard deviation per sector answers the last one instantly.
